Student Leadership
Student leadership lies at the heart of improving our school and enabling young people to realise their potential. It builds the necessary skills, confidence and motivation for young people to engage directly in the wider improvement of the school and, in particular, in the improvement of the learning experience.

Aims of the Programme
- To empower students to work in partnership with staff towards shared goals.
- To enable creativity to flourish as the school community benefits from the wealth of experiences, ideas, skills and sense of fun that students bring.
- To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through a variety of inspiring, challenging and valued projects which impact positively on learning, teaching and well-being for both students and staff at Lancaster Academy.
- To prepare students for further education and for achieving personal and professional excellence in life after formal education.
The young ambassador senior team are democratically elected in a process where they whole school votes for the candidate they want to be Principal after watching their election speeches. They then lead a team of 14 lead ambassadors who represent different faculties and areas of the school like environment, anti-bullying and mental health. Each ambassador has a deputy who helps them deliver their action plan with 3 different initiatives they agree with the staff member who is supporting them. Meetings are calendared over the academic year to check progress and update the action plan. In addition to this each year group has a different charity that they support and raise money over the year with events such as car washing, auctions and raffles. Every form group in the school has a mental health ambassador, an attendance one and an anti-bullying one. These are there to support every student on a daily basis and supporting by the relevant staff.
