Careers Home
As an Academy we expect every student to excel by attaching huge importance to developing the individual characteristics of RESPECT, EMPLOYABILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, DIVERSITY and YOUNG AMBASSADORSHIP, all of which prepare our students for the world of work.
We are intent on nurturing students to be fully ready for a career in business and are passionate about growing the aspirations of our young people and their families. We shape conversations about what's possible and for each individual we find the right route into business - from apprenticeships after GCSEs, right through to a degree or post-graduate qualifications. Through our tailored careers curriculum, interwoven with our READY values and close connections with companies large and small, we ensure our school leavers are READY for work and the world of enterprise and commerce.
We have worked hard as a school to achieve the Careers Standard Award and we received accreditation of this award at the end of the Summer term 2024. Here are some of the comments made by the reviewer about the provision of Careers at Lancaster.
Lancaster Academy delivers outstanding career-related learning to the benefit of its students, staff, and the wider community. It is an exemplar of best practice.
The enthusiasm for CEIAG at Lancaster Academy is palpable, the careers programme is valued throughout the school and has its own identifiable logo.
There is a robust approach to planning, developing and evaluating all aspects of the careers programme. Feedback is actively sought from all stakeholders, and all have complete faith their input is listened to and acted on where appropriate.
There is a joined-up, whole school approach to career-related learning which is strongly embedded in the curriculum. Direct links to career opportunities and the key transferable skills needed to succeed in the world of work are well understood by staff and students.
“The best thing about the careers programme is it makes you curious about the world of work and the things you can do. It raises aspirations and makes you feel confident about what you can do in the future”. (quote from yr 10 student)

National Apprenticeship Week 10th-16th February 2025
If you’re a parent, guardian or carer, you can help inspire the apprentices of tomorrow.
Apprenticeships are designed by employers so the training reflects the skills, knowledge and behaviours an apprentice will need for a particular occupation.
Apprenticeship training is of a high standard and only training providers who are on the register of apprenticeship training providers can deliver the training.
Working as an apprentice means they earn as they learn. An apprentice works in a real job and spends 20% of their working hours training. So they gain the skills needed for their chosen occupation.
Some apprenticeships include a qualification, including a degree. All of the training is free, so the apprentice has no student debt to worry about.
A school or college leaver can apply for university and an apprenticeship at the same time. They can make their final decision after they’ve had time to consider their options.
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we will be displaying below their Parent Guide each month. If you would like to view more please click here.
