• Archery
  Archery

  Students will follow details instructions about technique and safety, get the opportunity to shoot on the line in small groups and take part in games and competitions. By the end of the series of lessons, students can expect to have acquired all the skills they need to take up archery as a hobby.

• Art

  Come along to the art department and experiment with a range of art materials. In time we will produce work which we will exhibit around school and online. Get creative and have some fun!

• Band music

  This is an exciting opportunity for some of our musicians to learn to perform instruments and play individually or be part of a music band. There will also be opportunities to showcase your talent and perform as part of a show.

• Basketball

  You will have the chance to work on a different fundamental basketball skill each week, and then put these to use in fun competitions and games against each other.

• Bead crafting
  Bead crafting

  The bead crafting club will allow you to experiment with making jewellery and trinkets using beads and other crafting materials. You will have the freedom to explore your individuality and creativity through designing and making. If you enjoy being creative and want to explore the different ways you can use beads then come along. It is a great opportunity to be inspired and spend time with friends and peers who share similar interests.

  From classics like poker to chess, to modern hits like Munchkin and Fluxx, at board game club you'll get a chance to try out a wide range of different board and card games. Along the way, you'll learn the history of games like these, discuss what makes games work (or not), how the game design process works, and maybe playtest games of your own design!

  Chess is a game played between two opponents on opposite sides of a board containing 64 squares of alternating colours. Each player has 16 pieces: 1 kind, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 8 pawns. The goal of the game is to checkmate the other kind. Chess is one of the many great alternatives to video games.

  You will have the opportunity to develop a range of skills, including fielding, bowling and batting. There will also be opportunities to play hardball cricket and train towards representing the school team.

Well, whether you can sing or play an instrument, or just have a love for it... come along to Lancaster Academy Choir. Build up your confidence, develop musical skills in singing, play instruments. Come alone or with friends to a fun, welcoming atmosphere where you can sing along in a group, so you are never alone.

  Dip, duck, dive and dodge! Dodgeball combines agility, speed, power and teamwork. Sessions will be game based and allow students to develop their playing, officiating and leading skills.

Join us to develop your performance and creativity skills. We will go on to develop work that will be showcased in our spring show!

• Duke of Edinburgh
  Duke of Edinburgh

  The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a balanced and progressive programme of activities for young people. It focuses on individual achievement in which any young person can take part and which everyone can enjoy. It is flexible enough to meet each young persons enthusiasm and aptitudes whatever their background or ability. There are three levels of the Award; Bronze, Silver and Gold. At each level young people choose activities from all three sections - Volunteering, Skills and Physical. There is also the expedition to complete. Participation in the Award leads to personal development through the acquisition of: qualities - self motivation, commitment, self-awareness, initiative, persistence, self-discipline and responsibility for both themselves and their community. Key Skills - Working with others, communication, problem-solving.

  A new club we will be running this year, fencing, gives students the change to improve balance, co-ordination and flexibility. You will get the opportunity to use specialist equipment. Fencing is also excellent for improving your concentration and focus.

  Are you a Master Builder? Yes or no, LEGO is a fun and constructive (get it?!) way to get creative. Whether you are following the instructions or going completely off-scr1pt and building from the imagination, everything is awesome! LEGO club will include set and free building, as well as challenges designed to get you thinking outside of the brick. Have a go at incorporating movement into your builds with gears & axels and even try coding with LEGO Mindstorms. Please note, this club is not associated with the LEGO group.

  (Girls) Netball

  Netball is an exciting, fast and skilful game of fair contest which can be played in different formats. It has a long history and is a game in which two teams each strive to keep or gain possession of the ball. The team with the ball, through running, jumping, throwing and catching attempts to move the ball into its goal circle from where a goal may be scored. The opposing team uses defensive movements and strategies to prevent this and to gain possession.

  Rugby club will look at developing the skills for contact rugby and working towards representing the school. We will look to build our relationships with Leicester Tigers and compete in the 'Schools Programme'.

  Students will have an opportunity to get 'hands on' in the lab! There will be opportunities to take part in practical experiments from making bath bombs to designing and firing rockets!

• Silversmithing

  Silversmithing ASC has been introduced to students by Ms. Knaggs teacher of Design Technology & Art. The projects that have been designed for the club involve making templates, shaping metal (real silver) through filing and sanding, texturizing, planishing, soldering and polishing.

  Come along to this high energy club where you will learn the technique and choreography involved in street dance and musical theatre. You will be involved in learning several moves and routines that you will perform in both small groups and whole group dances.

• Table Tennis

  This club will look at introducing students to the rules and basic skills of table tennis. You will have an opportunity to develop your table tennis skills by playing in both singles and doubles format. There will also be an opportunity to represent Lancaster Academy at the Secondary Schools Table Tennis Competition.

  Volleyball is a very popular sport at Lancaster. In this club you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and compete in a fun environment. We will develop the basic skills of serving, setting and digs and apply the rules in a friendly tournament. There will also be opportunities to represent the school in competitions.
